Communicate with other Rainbow Hearts
Welcome to Rainbow Hearts -- a web page dedicated to unite members of the glbt community who are followers of Paramahansa Yogananda.
This web page started as the result of the meeting of several gay and lesbian SRF members at the 2000 Convocation.
The meeting at the 2000 Convocation was a heart-warming event -- some were wearing rainbow colors on their nametags; the word spread; and we had a chance to meet glbt members from all over the U.S. and overseas. Only a few days had passed after Convocation, when others who were not able to be there also started writing, wanting to connect and be part of it all.
Although originally planned for the sharing of articles, news and information on issues related to the glbt community, this web site has evolved into a discussion group. Some of the topics discussed within this group include:
- Should this group include members of other Yogananda communities? - How can we help each other understand the glbt role in today's (spiritual) society? - What is the glbt role within the community of devotees of Paramahansa Yogananda? - Gay and Spiritual: Are they compatible? What does it mean?
- Words of inspiration from within the Gay-Spiritual world
This site, which started as a desire for a wider connection, has so far spread to a worldwide audience, to include members from Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Portugal, Philippines, Spain, Switzerland, and the U.S. Hope you can join us.
During the year 2001 many Rainbow Hearts participants discussed at length, on-line, the need to establish a dialogue with SRF. As a consequence, a sub-group of long-time SRF members (RH participants not need to be SRF members) was formed, to address GLBT (gay, lesbian, bisexual and transsexual) issues directly with SRF monastics. Three meetings with the monastics were held so far.

What is the Rainbow Hearts e-mail group forum?
It's a system set-up to be a discussion forum, open to all those in the GLBT community with an interest in clarity of our role as members of a spiritual path.
